Overview

We start near Blaydon Rugby Club at the Swalwell Visitor Centre.

It is a 5 mile, generally easy walk along the River Derwent through woodland up to “Nine Arches Viaduct” along the “Red Kite Trail “. There are spectacular views of the countryside, river and its wildlife.
There is one short, steep incline with steps to Hollinside Manor.
The walk is generally on firm surfaces (no mud).
There are no toilets at the start of the walk.
