This is a Linear walk mostly on established paths.
We will meet to start the walk at the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle (what 3 words attend.descended.loyal). We would recommend public transport to get here as parking can be expensive in the town centre. Nearest metro station is Monument and the bus station is at Haymarket.
There are no toilets at the start of the walk.
We will walk up a set of stairs and over the flyover towards Manors and cross over a fairly quiet road to head towards the Quayside, passing the Sallyport Tower at Town Wall. There will be a small set of stairs to descend passing the Keelsmens Hospital down onto the Quayside.
Walking along the riverside towards the Ouseburn we will pass The Tyne Bar, The Cluny and Ouseburn Farm and walk into the Ouseburn.
Coming out there is a steeper set of stairs to ascend but we will take our time before heading across the road towards Heaton Park. Some of the pathways have been covered in leaves so care should be taken depending on the weather conditions.
Passing through Heaton Park and Armstrong Park we will then head into Jesmond Dene where we will have a lunch stop at Pets Corner where there will be toilets and a cafe available.
From there we will continue through Jesmond Dene passing the Mill and Waterfall until we come out past Jesmond Dene House and head down Hedricks Mill Road towards South Gosforth Metro where the walk will end.
As it is the run up to Christmas for those who would want to, we can stop and have a drink just before the metro at The Brandling Villa or the nearby Millstone.
No toilets at the start but toilets at the lunch break.
There are a number of stairs on the walk with only 1 steeper set coming out of the Ouseburn.
Depending on the weather the paths may be slippery if it is icy or lots of leaves on the paths so care should be taken.
The walk is on well established paths.
