An 8.5 - 9 mile walk that takes us from Donisthorpe to Moira Furnace past the head of the Ashby Canal. The distance will depend on whether we need to divert around flooded footpaths.
The terrain is varied and includes tow path, maintained tracks, woodland and agricultural land. Please be prepared for some muddy sections.
We will meet at Donisthorpe Woodland Park carpark (believed to be free). There are toilets at the soft play centre near the carpark, and also at Moira Furnace where the old lime kilns will provide shelter for our lunch stop if it is raining.
Please dress appropriately including sturdy waterproof footwear, and bring sufficient food and drink for a full day.
