Overview

A winter's walk which should give us fine views to the south. From Andrew's Wood we pass Fort Halstead heading to Chevening for a glimpse of Chevening House, the official residence of the Foreign Secretary. The climb back up to the top of the Downs is over 100 metres, but the only major ascent of the day. Lunch is at Knockholt Pound, where there is a pub for a quick drink after your picnic. The afternoon takes us through Halstead, making the walk around 5 and a half miles in the morning and 3 and a half in the afternoon.
