Predominantly a downland walk with great views from the start. We initially head west alongside the gallops before turning downhill across farmland into Kingsclere. Leaving Kingsclere, we turn south back out onto the downs along good tracks and farm access roads, stopping for a coffee along the way. Some short stretches of woodland walking take us into the village of Hannington, where we stop for lunch by the village green and church. From Hannington, we briefly retrace our route heading south to North Oakley before turning north with the views with us again, all the way back to start point.
Whilst we use a number of well maintained estate/farm roads/tracks, there are woodland and field stretches that will be wet and muddy or frozen and rutted, either way, potentially difficult underfoot. It is an undulating walk with 400m of ascent/descent, with one steep descent, otherwise, generally fairly gradual. There are two road sections, where care will be required, the usual selection of gates and one stile.
This walk is limited to 16, so use the link to book your place before 6.00pm on Wednesday 14th February.
Please bring refreshment for the day to include coffee and lunch stops.
