We will be exploring the attractive and varied landscapes around Downton and Hale Purlieu. From Downton we loop north through the water meadows to the picturesque weir and old mill at Trafalgar. After heading back to Downton via Barford Park, we pass through the pleasure gardens of Moot House. A long riverside path and the AVP lead us eventually to Hale. Then we cross the open heath of Hale Purlieu and make our way home via Bohemia, Tinney's Fir and Woodfalls. Easy walking in general, but there are a few short, but steep climbs. Also a few stiles. Remember at the end to check for ticks! Map: EX130 & OL22.
NB: there are 2 walk options today of 8.5 miles (missing the northern loop and joining the walk at around 11am still from Moot car park) and 12 miles. Everyone is welcome. If you would like to join this walk, please notify the walk leader (Patricia D 07552865681) or email swrsundaywalks@gmail.com. Please indicate when booking if you intend to join the shorter option. I will need to have your mobile no. to hand.
There will be two stops during the day for coffee and lunch (please bring a picnic). Extra drinking stops if hot.
Assistance dogs only.
