Overview

Leaving East Malling we will skirt farmland, arriving at the old West Malling Abbey, home to an order of Benedictine Nuns.  We then pass through the centre of West Malling, Fatherwell Road and on to Tower Farm and St. Leonard's Tower, which is a small free-standing Norman Tower Keep. Very little is known about the history of the building or its intended purpose.  Crossing the road we head into Manor Park Country Park, once part of an 18th century country estate, where we will stop at the outdoor cafe for refreshments.  From here we walk through apple orchards and past the old watercress beds back to East Malling.
