A circular walk passing through a wide range of habitats – leafy lanes, the edge of Windsor Great Park, meadows, the Thames Path and woodland.
We head past the mansions of Englefield Green to Egham Wick and skirt Windsor Great Park before reaching the spectacular Grade 1 listed Royal Holloway College Founder’s Building. We then pass along the back streets of Englefield Green with a pause for coffee outside the Church of the Assumption of our Lady.
From here we follow public footpaths towards Coopers Hill, then down to the Runnymede Hotel, where we pick up the Thames Path. Our lunch stop will be at the Runnymede Pleasure Ground (public toilets, hot drinks & hot food available). From here we follow the banks of the Thames to the Magna Carta memorial, then pass the Kennedy Memorial before ascending Coopers Hill to the Airforce Memorial, commemorating the c. 21,000 allied Air Force men and women lost in WW2 who were never recovered.
If your legs can cope with the 2 flights of circular stairs at the Memorial, there are spectacular views across the Queen Mother Reservoir towards Heathrow, over Wraysbury and into Surrey from the roof-top.
There is ample parking in the carpark for the Air Force Memorial at Coopers Hill (£2.80 by card / Ring app) - TW20 0LF
There are public toilets at the start, at the lunch stop and also at the Magna Carta Team Room.
There are no stiles and there was little mud at the time of my recce (18/11/25). There is a small amount of pavement walking.
