A classic Chiltern walk through scenic countryside - there will be two alternative meeting points for those travelling by car and those arriving by bus / Chiltern Rail. We leave High Wycombe heading north through Hughenden Park and the Hughenden Valley, via Hampden Common and the outskirts of Princes Risborough to Whiteleaf. There will be a short coffee / comfort break at Hughenden Village Store & Coffee Shop. The lunch stop will be at Hampden Common. We will pass Bryants Bottom, Lower Cadsden, Happy Valley and Great Kimble before arriving at our destination, Little Kimble Railway Station. To travel back to High Wycombe, there is a 130 / 300 bus (£2.00) or else the the Chiltern Rail from Little Kimble (£5.70) - some trains require a change at Princes Risborough. The train and bus journeys take c. 35 mimutes.
There are several hills - 3 will leave you out of breath, but the views are worth the effort! For anyone wishing to leave their car at Little Kimble station, there are only 4 parking spaces. There is a small service road off Ellesborough Road with space for 4 or maybe 5 cars if we park close up. When I visited Little Kimble at midday to check this out, a large HGV was parked for a rest break, but normally I'd expect it to be empty early in the morning. There is a further lay-by circa 0.3 mile from here used by dog walkers. Do bring a picnic lunch and plenty of fluids.
