A leisurely 3.5 mile walk consisting of a mix of town streets, farm tracks and woodland paths passing a variety of historical landmarks including Norman fishponds, the remains of an 11th century priory and Eye castle.
The paths are well defined, a little muddy in places, but generally walking is easy with no significant gradients. There is one stile which is easily negotiable.
Park in Cross Street Car Park (free) where there are public toilets. We shall meet outside the public toilets by the entrance to the car park, please avoid blocking the entrance to the public library which is next to the toilets.
Alternative free car parking (Buckshorn Lane Car Park) exists a short walk away off Church Street (access via Buckshorn Lane). Refreshments are available within Eye town centre.
There will be a refreshment stop approximately half way round at a picnic site by the River Dove
