Note: This is similar to the walk 31 August and as no recce will have been done since please assume autumnal conditions including some mud and slippery leaves.
As it is Remembrance Sunday we will be going past the Cenotaph in Godfrey meadows. Note that Castle Street will be closed for military to assemble so use B3007 Hale Road from Six Bells roundabout to get to Riverside carpark.
Starting from Riverside carpark we walk through the new Brightwells square to Victoria Gardens (the former Victorian swimming baths) then into Gostrey Meadows past the Cenotaph. Walking through St Andrew’s churchyard we go past the University to open fields and bridle paths. Joining St Swithun's Way, we walk along quiet roads and paths into historic Dippenhall, returning across open fields into Farnham.
Mix of town and countryside. Historic buildings, farmland, open countryside. Due to some overgrown areas long trousers and walking boots required. 25 steps on return into Farnham and with some undulating areas so poles recommended.
Free parking in Farnham on Sundays. Note that the starting point is Riverside carpark 2 or 3 (not 1 behind the Leisure Centre). Allow extra time for driving & parking due to roadworks at Six Bells and Remembrance Day traffic.
