We are the Isle of Wight Ramblers. We arrange walks, monitor paths and help our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
A circular walk with a snack stop. Precise route to be determined nearer the time depending on conditions, mud and river level, but basically it should be an easy and mostly flat Sunday morning ramble, five miles at most, with no major hills or challenges, and some mulled wine and mince pies partway round . Christmas hats, jumpers and sparkle welcome but definitely not compulsory !
Travel
Car: free carpark in centre of Newchurch, opposite Newchurch Primary School.
Bus: Sorry I do try and find bus-friendly walks but unfortunately this one isn’t. Perhaps any drivers who are willing could offer a lift to any non-driver local to them (consider using whatsapp group for this purpose if applicable), or indeed carsharing generally makes parking easier, and helps keep the ramblers’ environmental impact down.
Food: you should bring along a drink and maybe a snack.
Depending on the weather, consider suitable clothing, footwear, walking stick, sun cream, drinks, and food. Watch out for ticks and remove ASAP.
There may be short sections of road-walking – if so, please walk in single file and take good care.
If you are unsure about your ability to undertake this walk, please contact the walks leader. If you need to leave the walking group, please ensure you inform the leader or back marker

If you are new to the Ramblers you can just turn up for any of our walks, unless we specify otherwise. We invite you to come along for three walks as a non-member.
