We are the Isle of Wight Ramblers. We arrange walks, monitor paths and help our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
NIGEL DAVID BATH
Join us for a short one hour walk and talk with easy access, free parking or the Number 7 bus stop within 100 metres of the walk start. Starting from Colwell Common, Totland Bay, we will walk out overlooking the bay, with an off the beaten track view, descend from Turf Green to Totland Pier and walk the Coast Path to Colwell Bay and then a have gentle ascent back to the Common.
There will be an option to extend the walk for those seeking a longer route.
Public Toilets are passed at Totland Pier and Colwell Bay, the walk is also suitable for dogs on a lead. There will be an additional option on the longer walk!
Walks 2/9 and 3/9 will take place on the 20th and 27th January at the same time and location as part of the first block. This will give new walkers the opportunity to get to know a new walk and gain in confidence in company. These will be listed shortly on the site.
New walkers welcome. If you are new to the Ramblers you can just turn up for any of our walks, unless we specify otherwise. We invite you to come along for three walks as a non-member.
Additional Notes
Depending on the weather, consider suitable, clothing, footwear, walking poles, sun cream, drinks, and food. Walking poles can be particularly useful in winter in helping you to stay upright! Watch out for ticks and remove ASAP. If you are unsure about your ability to undertake this walk, please contact the walks leader. If you need to leave the walking group, please ensure you inform the leader or back marker.
Please note that there may be short sections of road walking, so please walk in a single file and take good care.

Some people may wish to carry an ICE (in case of emergency) card. We have Ramblers cards for this.
Meet by the picnic bench on The Common. The Number 7 bus from Newport stops at Colwell Baptist Chapel. From here cross the road and take the short walk to the Common. From Alum Bay the No 7 stops at The Common in the direction of Newport. The no 12 bus stops 200 metres away at The Coastguard Station Cottages. Parking is free on The Common along Colwell Common Road. It is acceptable to park on the grass adjacent to the road in preference to parking on the road. The ground is generally hard and not muddy.
