South Shropshire boasts many hills but there are times when a flatter walk makes a pleasant change. This particular walk starts from the village hall in Onibury and takes us across fields via Vernolds Common to Seifton, before turning back past Bache Pool, finishing with views across the Onny valley. The route is predominantly grassy pastureland with occasionally an arable field to cross. There are quite a few stiles to climb, but look at another way this means plenty of times to rest ! The route is undulating with no steep hills, although we should get distant views of hills from time to time. By mid November the autumn colours should be at their best. As usual there will be a mid-morning coffee stop and a further lunch stop, so come prepared. There are a number of opportunities to shorten the walk if the weather is unfavourable.
Please note there are quite a few stiles on this walk as the walk is exclusively across grassy fields over farmland, but the majority of these are in very good condition. There are also a couple of footbridges, which will also need to be crossed with care (slippery). At the time of devising this walk the paths were still dry, but by the time November arrives we can expect there to be more mud about, so appropriate footwear is essential.
Onibury lies just off the A49 by the railway level crossing. From Craven Arms go south on the A49 for 2.6 miles and, just before the level crossing, turn left and almost immediately right into the village hall car park. From the south follow the A49 north towards Craven Arms and then turn immediately right after the level crossing.
