Meet at Currie Library 8.45am for 9am departure - Or at the Gladhouse Reservoir Hill Walkers Car Park (EH23 4TF) 17miles from Currie.
Estimated finishing time is 2pm.
Walk Description
The walk is mainly on farm tracks and woodland, where the path is uneven, and with some road walking and across farmland.
This a repeat of a walk I led in November, but in reverse with a planned coffee stop at Gladhouse and lunch at the castle.
We leave the little rough car park, climbing over a fence and walk through the woods around the reservoir to Gladhouse. After our break we continue around the east side of the reservoir along quiet tarmacked roads and through farmland until we get to Moorfoot Farm. We then branch out towards the Moorfoot Hills and stop at the ruins of 16th Century Hirendean Castle for lunch with views across to the Pentlands and beyond. We then retrace our steps back to Moorfoot Farm and then back to the car park.
The EH23 4TF post code is accurate for the track leading to the car park.
