Overview

GM Ringway stage 18 – Irlam to Altrincham: The walk is about 12 miles mainly through farm land, crossing the Manchester Ship Canal at Warburton Bridge and following part of the Bollin Valley Trail.  The route goes through Cheshire villages and passes through Dunham Massey ending up walking through Altrincham.

There are drop out points where people can leave the walk and get a bus but only after about 4 miles. Buses to Warrington (3) and Shudehill (100 – Salford Reds) and Irlam (P5) before Warburton Bridge.  Other side of Warburton Bridge is CAT5 to Altrincham.  There are no other public transport links till Dunham Massey, which is then only a couple of miles to Altrincham.

The walk is pretty flat.
