Overview

Circular walk led by Jane R (Mobile No: 07906 987503) over rolling Chilterns countryside comprising attractive farmland and woodland and quiet country lanes. In the morning we follow the Chiltern Way in a southeasterly direction, passing Great Chalk Wood, Coombe End Farm and Beech Farm, and then head north to our lunch stop at Hill Bottom, 'The Sun Inn' or picnic nearby. We then continue north through Little Oaken Wood to Greenmoor Hill, skirt the eastern and northern edges of Woodcote, then rejoin the Chiltern Way and head southwest past Dean Wood, High Wood and Wroxhills Wood on the way back to Goring & Streatley Station. Map: E171, L175.

NOTE: It is possible to drop out from Woodcote by the hourly X40 Oxford City to Reading bus. It calls at Woodcote War Memorial at 13:53, 14:53, 15:53, 15:57... and again 4 minutes later after four other stops then calls at Langtree School and Tidmore Lane before rejoining the A4074 and terminating in Station Road Reading.
