Overview

Errington Coffee House, Halton Castle and surrounding area. Following the Roman Wall Path westward initially, then passing Portgate Farm, Stagshaw Bank and Halton Castle before returning via the Roman Wall Path (again). 

Varied terrain of fields, woodland and quiet tracks/lanes with good views throughout. One crossing of the busy A68. One short, steep climb but only about 500 feet of ascent in total. Quite a few styles on the Roman Wall section but all are in good condition. Grade : moderate.

Refreshments:  Hydration stops on route as required. Errington Coffee House is near the parking spot for those interested at the end of the walk.( closes 4:00 p.m.).

Stagshaw Roundabout opposite the Errington Coffee House - Postcode NE45 5QB. What3 words - ///squashes.success.sprouted. Off road parking on a small access track to the old Fawdington’s Garage. Spaces are limited so car sharing is advised. Directions to start point: From Ponteland join the Military Road (B6318)towards Chollerford. Just before reaching the Corbridge roundabout turn left into a small access road to park. ( If you have reached the roundabout, you have gone too far!)
