Overview

From Kingsmeadow car park, take the cuddy path to the Drove Road. Follow the Drove Road around Hamilton Hill until you reach a gate on the right. Leave the Drove Road here and head to Nether Kidston. The walk crosses the A703, going for a short distance along the main Edinburgh Rd, then to the right up to Redscarhead, heading to Heathpool Common. Turning right,  following a wide track up the hillside.

Follow up to the top of the plantation where there is a gate with wooden style to the left.  Stop for lunch.  Leave via a gate in the wall on the right, the hillside slopes steeply downwards. Head for the rectangular clump of trees shown on the OS map. Head for a wall to the left of Vanlaw, exiting via a gate. Join the track from Castle Venlaw just as it turns sharply right before heading back into Peebles.
