Overview

A circular walk from Hebden Bridge train station taking in sights such as Hardcastle Crags and Gibson Mill.  It's been over a year since I recce'd this walk so some re-recce-ing may be required.

Meet outside Hebden Bridge train station for 10:15AM to allow for the train that arrives at 10:10 from Leeds.  If this train is delayed we'll delay the start of the walk until the train arrives.

From the train station we'll walk through the town until we get to woodland. We then follow the woodland path along Hebden Water, which meanders through the valley.  Once completed, this woodland section takes you to Gibson Mill.  From here, we'll take a slight detour to Hardcastle Crags, before returning to Gibson Mill where we'll have lunch (please bring a packed lunch).  Gibson Mill has toilets and a cafe selling drinks, snacks and ice cream.

After lunch, we cross Hebden Water and ascend a steep woodland path continuing across the green fields on the slopes of Standing Stone Hill.  From the top we'll enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscape, before descending to Colden Water and following the meandering river through the woodland valley back to Hebden Bridge.  After the walk we'll find a pub or a cafe for well earned refreshments.

Some of the paths could be muddy so please wear walking boots.  Be prepared for several steep ascents.  Sorry no dogs as we'll have to pass through a field with animals in.
