This is a shorter than normal walk passing through woods, countryside and urban parts of South East Newbury. The circular walks starts from the layby opposite the water tower next to Pigeons Farm Road, Greenham where car parking is available. The route crosses Greenham Common in a Westward direction along footpaths and onto deadmans lane to cross the Newtown Road onto Highwood Copse way. The walk turns southwards before the junior school and around the lake before heading Northwards past Newbury College to cross Monks Lane and on to the Newtown Road turning right past Two Saints taking the footpath over the A339 to the Nightingales. On meeting the Greenham Road the route turns southwards before turning left along Woodlands View and into the woods crossing New Road and through more woods North of St. Mary's Church emerging onto Greyberry Copse Road and through yet more woods back to the Greenham Water Tower.
Despite the semi-urban nature of the walk there will be muddy and slippery stetches. Please dress appropiately for the winter conditions. Wellington boots may be useful.
Please bring a snack and drink for a mid morning break and use the link below to book the walk before 6pm on 23rd January. There is no limit to the number of walkers.
