Overview

Part of the Sandstone Trail - This walks starts from the Sandstone Trail CP adjacent to the Candle Factory in Higher Burwardsley. The walk heads south-west from the CP towards Burwardsley and then Harthill. From Harthill the route will turn roughly south towards Fuller's Moor before ascending Bickerton Hill (the most southerly point on the walk) to join the Sandstone Trail. Once on the Sandstone trail the walk will follow the trail north and east towards Beeston taking in landmarks such as Raw Head and Bulkeley Hill. At Beeston the route will then turn south again and follow a section of the Sandstone Trail back to Higher Burwardsley. The distance is 12-13 miles with a total ascent in the region of 1700 to 1800ft. Full Day. Bring lunch and adequate liquids. The walk is expected to finish by 17:00. Please park in the Sandstone Trail car park adjacent to the Candle Factory (now closed). Assistance Dogs only.  Tel 07729390400. Please book for this walk in the Walks Programme.
