An exploration of the villages and hamlets surrounding the beautiful West Yorkshire town of Holmfirth.
The starting point is Towngate car park in Holmfirth. If travelling via public transport, your best option is to:
- Take the train from Leeds to Huddersfield
- Take the short walk from Huddersfield train station to Huddersfield bus station.
- Take the 310 or 314 bus service from Huddersfield to Holmfirth. Holmfirth bus station is right next to our car park start.
Holmfirth has plenty of public pay and display car parks. There is towngate car park where are starting, but also others as well which are not too expensive to park in.
The walk is a strenous grade walk. It is approximately 12.5 miles long and contains several long steep sections. So a good level of fitness and countryside walking experience is required.
The walk should take 5.5-6.5 hours to complete.
The terrain is normal countryside paths, but they are still quite muddy so strong hiking boots are essential.
There are public toilet facilities at our starting point.
Unfortunately dogs cannot be permitted due to the presence of grazing sheep along the route.
