We travel here via Huddersfield and use Birch Services for our comfort stop this morning. Joining a walk today could take you along the Kirklees Way, or, maybe, the Hills and Hamlets Walk. With pubs and cafes available for refreshments this will be a good day out for all. For those of us of a certain age who remember Last of the Summer Wine, there are several filmung locations for you to seek out.
There will be three walks available, with details circulated on the coach. They will range fromeasy to strenuous depending on the walk selected.
A Walk Leader - Dave White
B Walk Leader - Dave Scowcroft
C Walk Leader - Elaine Brennan - 6.2 miles with around 1000ft of ascent which we will take slowly with p;enty of rest if needed. Starting with a climb out of Holmirth this walk takes in the villages of Upperthong and Lowerthong, with some noce views of the surrounding countryside. Continuing through Hogg Wood and returning along the River Holme to the cafes and bars for refreshments.
