Overview

A challenging walk of 21km/13 miles with 9 hills totaling 650 meters of ascent in this most beautiful part of the Chilterns. The pace will be moderate to brisk. We will be walking on a clockwise circular route around Ibstone with a start at the top of Ashfield barn road.

Ascent 1 takes us to Hell Corner farm after walking down to Turville wood from the top of Ashfield barn road. Ascent 2 leads to Ibstone common which we reach from the lane near Hale wood, Ascent 3 takes us to Ibstone school after walking down to Penley wood. Ascent 4 is for Hanger Wood from the north side which we reach from the footpath down the east side of Ibstone House. Ascent 5 is Turville Hill (the windmill) which we climb from the east side walking from Hanger Wood. Ascent 6 takes us Southend via Turville and the Chiltern way. Ascent 7 leads us to Turville Court having walked down to Dolesden Lane. Ascent 8 takes us to Turville Grange after walking through Turville wood and Idlecombe wood. Ascent 9 takes us back to the top of Ashfield barn road and the end of the walk.
