The walk is mainly on well-defined paths and trackways and combines good walking conditions with splendid views over pastoral landscapes.
Starting at Ipsden Village Hall we will be walking up past Coblers Hill and Drunken Bottom to join Grimms Ditch (ancient linear earthworks and now part of the Ridgeway). This takes us to Nuffield village. We then cross a golf course and loop back through the beautiful Chiltern landscapes towards Hailey. Before we finish there is a visit to the medieval church of St Mary’s (Ipsden) just north of the village, with some medieval painting and an interesting well head outside, originally made in Wallingford.
This is the same basic design as the famous Maharajah's well at Stoke Row, nearby, and was likewise donated by an Indian nobleman, Rajah Sir Deo Narayan Singh, in 1865.
From there it is a short step back to the car park.
