Overview

Hinckley Ramblers invite you to join them in walking The Jurassic Way.

Our long-distance adventure for 2026 will be the Jurassic Way – a beautiful 90-mile route steeped in history and brimming with rural charm. We’ll set off from Spiceball Park, Banbury, Oxfordshire on Saturday 13th June and arrive at St. Leonard’s Priory in the elegant stone town of Stamford, Lincolnshire on Saturday 20th June. You are welcome to walk all eight days with us or just whichever days you choose.

The Jurassic Way follows the band of Jurassic limestone that gives the path its name. Along the way, we’ll pass through rolling farmland, wooded valleys, and some of England’s prettiest villages, with honey-coloured cottages, medieval churches, and traditional market squares. Expect sweeping views from hilltops, traces of Iron Age hill forts, peaceful river crossings, and plenty of wildlife to spot in hedgerows and meadows.

The walk is open to both members and non-members of Ramblers. Dogs are unfortunately not allowed. There will be a lunch stop, usually near a pub, each day and shorter refreshment breaks at other times; please bring your own food and drink. Sturdy footwear, preferably walking boots, is required and of course you should be prepared for all types of weather. A small first aid kit is also recommended. If you have any questions or wish to register your interest then please contact Mike I’Anson at mikeianson@icloud.com or 07753 355413. A WhatsApp group has been set up for this walk, which you are welcome to join.
