Join our welcoming and friendly Group for some pleasant, relaxing, easy-paced walk and chat in the hills around the small vibrant Shropshire border town of Bishops Castle. You will be treated to magnificent views all around of the Shropshire Hills, the Camlad river valley and far-reaching rolling countryside of the Welsh Marches.
Starting by passing through the picturesque and quirky settlement of Bishop's Castle, we ascend through the pastures above it taking in the stunning views of Corndon and Roundton Hills and beneath them the serene Camlad Valley. The route winds through classic Marches settings reaching the edge of the Kerry Ridgeway and the village of Bishop's Moat. We then circle back skirting woodlands and passing through more undulating landscapes ending by following part of the Shropshire Way to return to the town.
The walk does afford some inclines but they are largely of a gentle nature. With the exception of the section through the town of Bishop's Castle it almost entirely avoids the road network.
We are a very gregarious lot and welcome and encourage walkers from outside our Group (if so please contact me by the email link). As always we will have an 'elevenses' break as well as a lunch stop so bring your packed lunches (there are no shopping facilities en route).
Toilet facilities are available in the car park in Bishops Castle at the start / end point.
Any late changes, including weather related or similar will be communicated via the group WhatsApp or via the submitted email.
