This is a circular walk taking us south and east of Kintbury passing through Kintbury Holt, Hamstead Marshall and the fringes of Marsh Benham, returning along the Kennet and Avon Canal. The walk encompasses a lovely mix of countryside including stretches across fields, through woodland and along the towpath. Part of the walk takes us through the picturesque Hamstead Park where we will have our lunch stop. The walk is some 9.5 miles long, with a number of hilly stretches and is graded moderate. We pass through farmland with the possibility for both cows and sheep, so no dogs on this walk please.
On our return to Kintbury, there will be the opportunity to visit the Dundas Arms pub for refreshments. A lovely beer garden on the banks of the canal if we are blessed with sunny weather.
Meet for a 10:30am start outside of Coronation Hall, Inkpen Road, Kintbury. Various options are available for on-street parking in the near vicinity. Parking is also available to the rear of Coronation Hall and at the nearby Gladstone Recreation Ground, although the latter may be busy with Sunday football.
Please bring a packed lunch, snacks and plenty to drink.
