This easy virtually entirely flat walk will take us in a northerly direction via Theale itself, over the footbridge above the constant humming of the M4 motorway. We may pause to look at Wilders Folly that stands a little to our right before heading to Sulham and then beyond to the Thames Path. Somewhere along here we will pause to eat our lunch and take in the tranquility of life on the River Thames so please remember to pack something to munch on and plenty of water. The terrain is mixture of tarmac and soft grass so strong walking shoes would be suitable.
We will divert away from the Thames Path to pay a visit to the Double Barreled Brewery where we will aim to spend approximately an hour to sample an ale or two. Other beverages as well as rest room facilities should be available.
Meet at Theale Station for a prompt 10am start. The walk leader intends to be on the 09:43 service from Reading due to arrive at Teale at 09:50. If the service is delayed then this may affect the start time of the walk. Please do check train times nearer the event incase these change. For those driving a daily parking charge of £4.40 applies at the station car park using the APCOA app. Note you need to make your own way back to Theale at the end of the walk. In theory you could park in Reading and take the train to the start but the car parks tend to be bit pricier.
The walk concludes next to the Thames on the Caversham/Reading border. The walk leader will provide simple instructions back to the railway station at Reading for those that need it.
