This is a circular B walk of approximately 9miles with a total ascent of 935ft. which will be taken at a pace suitable for those taking part. Starting from the Lomond Shores car park we will take the path into Balloch, cross the bridge and enter the country park. From here there is a steady, not steep, incline on our route which will take us past Balloch Castle, perhaps stopping here for our first break, and out through a gate leading us towards Knockour Hill. At this point the path becomes a little steeper as we go through a pleasant woodland. We will follow this path onwards towards a minor road for a short distance and then return to the woodland and onto the summit of Kockour which hopefully we will be rewarded with lovely views of Loch Lomond and beyond to enjoy during our lunch stop. Our return route will find our original path leading us downwards towards the Country Park and the Loch. From here we will walk along the side of the loch which will lead us back into Balloch, Lomond Shores and our awaiting cars.
Although most of our walking will be on paths and tracks there may be very wet sections to navigate. Strong footwear is essential. I would advise the use of a walking pole with gaiters being the walkers choice.
We will gather at the toilet entrance at Lomond Shores. Anyone travelling directly to this point should phone to make me aware of this fact please.
