This is a seven mile circular walk along the Kelvin Walkway to the Forth and Clyde Canal.
Starting at the Botanic Gardens we will go down to the Kelvin Walkway joining the Forth and Clyde Canal at Maryhill Locks
We will have a break at the Stockingfield Bridge before continuing along the canal path to Lambhill Stables which are located in the north of Glasgow. They were originally built in 1815 as a staging post in the days when horses pulled boats and barges along the Forth and Clyde Canal. In 2007 Lambhill Sables was acquired by the community.
We will then continue onto Possil Marsh which is one of the oldest nature reserves in Scotland dating back to 1931.
Our return walk is back along the Forth and Clyde Canal leaving it at the Murano footbridge near Murano Street Student Village. We will then return to the gates of the Botanic Gardens.
The walk is mainly on good paths but there may be some uneven terrain.
Around Possil Marsh there could be some very muddy parts and the path is narrow.
There are toilet facilities at the beginning of the walk and at Lambhill Stables.
The cafe in Lambhill Sables may be open.
