This walk is mainly over rolling fields & pastureland, with some beautiful, open views along the way.
We head east towards Langham Lodge, then via bridleways and a very quiet country road to Ashwell. We then head out west towards Whissendine, taking the reservoir track and bridleway before heading across the fields towards the Manor House. At the edge of Whissendine, we pass through the estate via a grassy jitty and head back south towards Langham.
We have to cross the railway line in 2 places. There are a few stiles and pastures with grazing livestock.
The walking was good underfoot during the recce, but a few places have summer growth of overhanging brambles/nettles/grass.
In view of livestock in some fields, this walk is not suitable for dogs.
Please consider car sharing arrangements with other members to reduce the pressure on parking spots at the start of the walk.
In the event of severe weather, please contact the leader on the morning to check the walk is still on.
