Overview

This semi-rural village is at the western edge of Macclesfield Foret, with the St Dunstans Inn for refreshments later. Walks today could be along parts of the Gritstone Trail, or within the forest. You could head for the Cheshire Matterhorn (Shutlingsloe 50mts) to the south. Our leaders may even take you to Wildboarclough.

Three walks will be available with details circulated on the coach. They will range from easy to strenuous depending on the walk selected.

A Walk Leader - Dave White

B Walk Leader - Chris Grayson - 8 miles with 1470ft of ascent.Heading past Teggsnose Reservoir to Clough House, then on to Ashtreetop, past Warrilowhead Farm, and through Gulshaw Hollow. Up to Windyway House on the old Buxton Road, calling at Tegg's Nose Visitor Center (toilets). Then downhill back to Langley.

C Walk Leader - Dave Eccles - 7.5 miles with 1100ft of ascent. Walking east out of Langley with a gradual climb to Macclesfield Forest, passing Teggsnose Reservoir. Returning via the Church in the Forest (1673, rebuilt 1834).
