Overview

A strenuous hike at a moderate pace through the open downland of the South Downs with sweeping views throughout. There are three climbs totalling 670 metres of ascent. The path is wide and easy underfoot. There is no cover, a consideration for sunny or wet days. There are two dropout points at Southease Station after the first hill and Glynde Station after the second.

Lunch is a late picnic at or near the Youth Hostel at Southease. There are toilets and refreshments at the hostel, but it’s likely to be busy. There’s scope for a second refreshment stop and toilets at Glynde.

Train 09.24 London Victoria 09.31 Clapham Junction 09.40 East Croydon. Eastbourne Train.
