Overview

A circular walk through the beautiful landscape of The South Downs visiting seven ancient churches including the Good Shepherd at Lullington, the smallest in Sussex, and St Michael and All Angels, Berwick, famous for its paintings by Bloomsbury artists.  This will be an undulating walk over varying terrain and will include an extended climb over Windover Hill.

Train: Victoria. 09:24; East Croydon 09:40; arrive Lewes 10:26 (Eastbourne train); change 10:47; arrive Berwick 10:56 (Hastings train).  Buy return to Berwick (Sussex).

Lunch: At Alfriston where there are pubs, cafes and benches for picnics.  Due to Alfriston's popularity a picnic lunch may be the best option.  There are public conveniences near the car park.

Toilet:  There are no toilet facilities at Berwick station. Please use toilet on the train.  Comfort stops on the walk will be al fresco.
