Overview

We leave the market town of Leyburn and a gentle climb leads to 'the  shawl' - an escarpment overlooking the valley and the river Ure. After a mile or so the path drops down through fields and across the Wensleydale railway and on to the village of Wensley. Our route takes us through more fields and back to Leyburn. There are a few stiles and two inclines. The path is well defined, though there may be livestock. If the weather is kind the walk gives stunning views of Wensleydale.
