A level walk along the Foss Dyke - probably the oldest waterway in Britain, built around 120AD - into Lincoln and up to the cathedral. There will be about 3 hrs free time in Lincoln before we walk back along the Foss Dyke to the Pyewipe Inn for an early dinner (16.45) before the coach picks us up to return to Swinton. Total mileage (excluding any you may do round Lincoln) 7.5 miles.
To book a seat on the coach, please text Pat on 07759 599483. Cost to be confirmed.
If travelling independently, please text or phone Bob, don't use email to book on this walk
The walk into Lincoln ends at the visitor information centre from where it's a minute's walk to the Cathedral - open for visitors 12.00 to 14.30, admission fee applies - the Castle ( the views from walk round the walls are spectacular and free) and Steep Hill. With museums, galleries, Roman and Viking history, independent shops etc there's lots to see and do. Either bring a packed lunch to eat in the Castle or Cathedral gardens, or buy lunch from one of the many eateries in the city centre.
Meal choices for dinner at the Pyewipe must be confirmed 2 weeks in advance, so book early to avoid disappointment.
