We leave Linton by the interesting clapper gate, following the route of the River Granta to the pretty hamlet of Hildersham. A short stretch on a quiet road and we take a field track leading uphill to the chalky route of the Roman Road where we turn right and follow it for a couple of mills, Turning right again we past the art deco watertower at River Hill, descending on a stoney path into Linton, in its day a wealthy market town with many listed buildings. And a rather nice cafe and pub to take refreshments after our exertions. This walk includes a modest ascent, ridge views (if the weather allows) and a chance to walk along an ancient route.
