Overview

Train from Ashford at 08:44(3minutes earlier from Staines) Changing at Vauxhall for the Victoria Line to Tottenham Hale and change to National Rail for Enfield Lock to arrive at 10:21. This is an 8.6 mile walk passing King George's Reservoir, Barn Hill(Sewardstone Hills), The Hawk Wood, Chingford, Queen Elizabeth's Hunting Lodge, Powell's Forest, Roding Valley Recreation Ground, Roding Valley Meadows and finishing with a walk along the B170 for almost 3/4 a mile. There is an alternative for this final section but as the road walk at the end is about the same down the High Street I don't see any point in doing it unless the bus we are catching at the end also comes along the High Street. Quite a lot of the route is through Epping Forest. The return route is by bus to Ilford Station and then the Elizabeth Line to Heathrow and then back to Ashford or Staines.
