A beautiful walk on the quieter side of the Long Mynd, with outstanding scenery and views throughout. We start from the Bridges Inn and follow a relatively gentle, undulating route with some short steeper ascents, to the top of the Long Mynd plateau, with its extensive views and wild ponies. Our route begins on the Shropshire Way, which we follow up the beautiful Darnford "Golden Valley" to where it meets the ancient prehistoric track known as The Portway. We follow the Portway past prehistoric tumulus burial mounds to the Shooting Box, where we then descend on the Cross Britain Way to the River Onny valley to return to Bridges.
