Come burn off all those mince pies by climbing the Long Mynd! This route features woodland, picturesque valleys and sweeping views weather permitting. We will walk through Hope Wood, ascend via Ashes Hollow, walk along Long Synalds and climb Yearlet, before descending via Devil’s Mouth to Rectory Wood.
There is a fair amount of sustained ascent, most of it relatively gradual for the Long Mynd, but the climb up Yearlet is steep. The path crosses a swiftly flowing stream several times in Ashes Hollow, sometimes between rocky banks. Generally it’s possible to cross by taking large steps or placing a boot in a couple inches of water. We will take our time and go at the pace of the group.
It is likely to be cold so warm layers will be essential as will hiking boots.
🐕 Dog’s are welcome but should be kept on a lead for most of the walk due to the presence of ponies and sheep. There are five styles. Please notify the walk leader if you would like to bring your dog.
