The walk is from Chetnole Station back to Maiden Newton where we will have parked our cars. The walk takes us through pretty villages, stately parkland, past beautiful manor houses and through varied countryside. There are no steep gradients, but there are some tricky patches. There was a lot of water and mud when we recceied this walk in March. One particular stream has stepping stones and a steep bank to manoeuvre, so come prepared. The pace will be quite brisk when conditions allow, as it is a long walk and we will not be starting till 10.10.
Picnic. No dogs.
The train gets to Maiden Newton at 9.55. There is no facility to buy a ticket (or anything else) at Maiden Newton Station so you will need to purchase it beforehand via the GWR app. or an existing ticket office. The carpark is free but quite small; there are places to park on the roadside approaching the station. Chetnole is the next station and is a request stop. We will meet at 9.45 on the northbound platform.
