This is a circular walk from Lower Heyford, taking in country paths and villages on both sides of the river. From Lower Heyford we skirt the former RAF base at Upper Heyford, then head to Somerton before crossing the water in the direction of Middle Aston. We pass through Steeple Aston and make our way back via Rousham.
Some of the paths were quite overgrown when I recceed, and we will be walking through a lot of fields/areas without shade.
**there is a yellow weather alert for very high temperatures**
bring plenty of water (min 2 litres)
wear a hat and light clothing
apply a high factor suncream
bring snacks
NOTE: Dogs on leads are welcome, BUT this walk includes a lot of walking in open fields (unshaded), so they might not be very happy
Meet in Market Square (outside The Bell pub) in Lower Heyford. Please park with consideration in the surrounding streets, as there is no car park in Lower Heyford. Do car share wherever possible. We will leave promptly at 10.15, so make sure you arrive in plenty of time.
