Overview

An 8.5 mile circular walk starting from Jackson's Brickworks Car Park, Pool House Road, Poynton.

Route:  We will head out along the Middlewood Way to Nelson's Pit where we will join the he Macclesfield Canal.  We will leave the canal at Adlington Basin.  Our route will then follow country lanes and field paths passing Harrop Brow, Birchencliffe and Keepers Cottage before entering the Lyme Park Estate.  Our route through the estate takes us across moorland, through Knightslow Wood, down a short section of the Gritstone Trail and over Cage Hill.  There are great views over Manchester and the surrounding countryside on a clear day from the Cage.   We will then leave the park to follow the Ladybrook Valley back to our start point.

Note:  Jackson's Brickworks Car Park is currently free to park.

This is a joint walk with Rochdale Ramblers.
