Walk Route - Manchester Airport, Moss Nook, Moss Lane, Altrincham Road, River Bollin, Sunbank Wood, Runger Lane, Airport.
From the front door near the taxi rank our first destination will be a quick trip up the escalator to see the Alcock and Brown commemorative sculpture, We'll then leave using the same door and head to see the memorial garden before following the perimeter along Ringway Road, crossing the A555 to Moss Nook where planes fly overhead.
Styal Road will take us to Moss Lane which forms part of the Airport Orbital Cycleway. From the back of Styal Country Park we'll head down to the roundabout on the A538 Altrincham to Wilmslow Road. There is a metal field-type gate to negotiate here. We then take the uphill footpath to the back of the airport fire station and down to the impressive River Bollin tunnel under the second runway.
A second uphill section takes us out of the Bollin valley and on to farmland. Mill Lane provides us with another view of the Bollin before we enter the mature Sunbank Wood for the third ascent.
A footpath around the perimeter along Runger Lane will then take us to roads with exotic place names as we pass Terminal 2 and return to the start.
