Overview

This is a varied walk with some very pleasant countryside.

Much of the walking is quite flat but there are some slopes. The flat sections include a couple of miles on the Tissington Trail (walk on the left and allow cyclists to pass on the right) and a couple of miles beside the river Dove listening to its tranquil babbling. We will cross the stepping stones. The slopes include going over Callow Top near Mapleton which is a small hill but gives us great views. We also go around Thorpe Cloud (not to the top) via Lin Dale.

Narlow Lane CP near Thorpe, £6.60 card only. We suggest travelling there via Ilam then Thorpe and steering well clear of Ashbourne. This is because of ongoing roadworks and road closures in Ashbourne.
