We are the Greater Manchester & High Peak Area Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Please note, this walk replaces the Area walk planned for 15 Feb '26 that is shown in the printed programme. This has been changed because of the closure of Piccadilly station for part of February. If a replacement walk from a different station is planned for 15 Feb details will be given on this site at a later date.
Area Sunday Moderate Walk.
Distances are usually between 7 - 9 miles.
Circular walk. No booking required.

Meeting time & place:
09.20 at Manchester Piccadilly station to catch the 09.31 to Marple.
Start time & place:
10.00 at Marple station after the arrival of the train from Manchester, due at 09.52. The leader will join the party at Marple station.
Estimated finish time & place:
14.30 in Marple to catch the 15.11 back to Manchester Piccadilly. The train after that is due at 16.08.

Note: walkers are advised to check one of the rail websites such as nationalrail or trainline close to the departure time in case of late changes to the running of the train.
Train ticket - return to Marple (if you have a GM concessionary pass you will not need a ticket).
Car parking at Marple station.
Walk route - Marple station, Etherow Country Park (toilets available), Cown Edge Way, Botham's Hall, Cown Edge Way, Brown Low, Hollywood, Mill Brow, Marple Bridge, Marple station.
Walking boots and clothing (including waterproofs if wet weather is possible) are essential. Lunch and non-alcoholic drinks should be brought.
