From Marsh Green we head south over Dry Hill and drop down past Waystrode Manor to Cowden for lunch. Please note that some the paths around the ironically named Dry Hill were still muddy in a few places in early August. You might want to bring a pole to help you through any patches which might have persisted to the 28th. About 6 miles and 120m/400 feet of ascent. All of the ascent is in the modest climb up to Dry Hill.
Lunch for pub lovers will be at the excellent Fountain Inn in Cowden. Picnickers can find seats in the churchyard.
In the afternoon, we go by Crippenden Manor and Christmas Place back to Marsh Green. About 4 miles and 100m/350 feet of ascent. The ascent comes in three short and easy climbs.
