Overview

This is the first leg of the Cumbria Coastal Way walking from North to South.

We start on the south side of the River Esk at Metal Bridge but leave this river heading south west to pick up the north side of the River Eden and follow this all the way to Carlisle where the route finishes on the Eden Bridge.

Along the way we pass the Eden Benchmark 'Global Warming' by Anthony Turner at Rockcliffe (NY 357 617).
